The World Literacy Foundation is accepting applications for its summer 2023 Youth Ambassador Program. Seeking young advocates in Iowa, the program aims to address the issue of illiteracy, affecting an estimated 65% of children from underserved communities in the state. Open to individuals aged 16 to 30, the four-month leadership development program equips participants with the knowledge and skills to advocate for literacy locally and globally. Applications can be submitted online through the WLF’s portal until May 26. The program begins on June 6 and is free of charge. The Youth Ambassador Program has empowered 1,500 young people from 110 countries over its seven-year history. The WLF, an international nonprofit, works in 52 countries and aims to eradicate illiteracy by 2040, reaching 500 million people annually.
