A postal strike in Canada may force the U.S. Postal Service to suspend acceptance of mail to Canada if an agreement is not reached by June 17. Canada Post late Tuesday shut down its operations nationwide after a week and a half of regional rolling strikes led by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. A decline in mail volume has resulted in $100 million in losses for Canada Post. Regardless of the strike situation, U.S. Postal Service customers will still be able to send letters and packages to Canada via GXG, a premium, international shipping service through FedEx Express. Additional information and updates regarding acceptance and movement of international mail are posted online at www.usps.com/communications/news/serviceupdates.htm.
