Capital City Pride is again hosting 30 Days of Pride in June in addition to its annual Pride Fest event. The 30 Days of Pride event allows families and individuals to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community throughout the month through educational activities, parades, concerts and other family-friendly activities, according to a release. “The pandemic obviously changed how we celebrated Pride in 2021,” said Capital City Pride President Jen Carruthers. “But the response was incredible, so we decided to do it again. Our hope is that these events will also introduce others in the community to different perspectives that help make Des Moines a more inclusive place to live, work and play.” Events include a scavenger hunt, drag brunches, the OneIowa Gala, pool parties and a pride walk. Pride Fest will be held June 10-12 featuring headliners Matt & Kim and Todrick Hall and a parade in the East Village. More information and a full list of events can be found on the Capital City Pride website.
