Capital City Pride announced that it will bring back its annual Pride Gala and Awards Ceremony on March 5, 2022. The event returns after taking a year off because of the coronavirus pandemic. According to a news release, the event, scheduled to be held at the River Center in Des Moines, will be Studio 54-themed and those who attend are encouraged to wear their favorite disco-era fashions and dance the night away. It will start with a social hour at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. and awards and entertainment to follow. Tickets for the gala and awards ceremony are now available. Table and seat selection must be done on a laptop or desktop computer. All proceeds will benefit programs for the LGBTQ+ community in the Des Moines area. Three individuals and one business organization will be recognized during the event. Two persons of the year will be honored, along with a Pride Ally of the Year, and a Pride Company of the Year.
