Carlisle plans public meeting to discuss upcoming vote on local option sales tax

103 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and LawThe city of Carlisle will host informational meetings at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 and Feb. 23 to discuss an election on March 1 in which residents will be asked to approve a local option sales tax that will increase the sales tax in the community by one percentage point and generate an estimated $190,000 in revenue. The meetings will be at the Carlisle Family Life Center, 405 School St. The City Council voted in August to spend 50 percent of the local option revenues on street and sidewalk improvements and to spend 50 percent on public safety services.
