Catch Des Moines has been recognized at the 2022 Iowa Tourism Awards for Outstanding Event for bringing the Dew Tour to Des Moines. The Dew Tour was named Outstanding Event, being described as one of the most exciting and buzzworthy events of 2021. It drew a national television audience who watched more than 300 skaters from 45 countries compete in the only U.S Olympic qualifying event for the sport. The event also opened the newly constructed Lauridsen Skatepark on the downtown riverfront. Catch Des Moines President and CEO Greg Edwards said it was an honor to be recognized, not only within the travel industry, but by peers within Iowa. “In the face of some trying times the past couple of years, we’ve been able to safely host huge, morale-boosting events,” he said.
