CB Richard Ellis sets high energy conservation goals
CB Richard Ellis Group Inc., a national commercial real estate firm, has set a goal to become carbon neutral by 2010 and to work with clients to implement energy-efficiency programs in the 1.7 billion square feet of building space it manages around the world. This is the first time a major commercial real estate services firm has announced plans to go carbon neutral.
The action is in response to a growing demand from clients and employees for green facilities. The company will work closely with the Natural Resources Defense Council to introduce energy-saving measures at its client-owned and occupied properties and will engage its clients in discussions about environmental issues.
The company’s local affiliate, West Des Moines-based CB Richard Ellis/ Hubbell Commercial has been involved in several green building projects in Central Iowa.
