CDC names Kaushik as Iowa’s Childhood Immunization Champion

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently named Dr. Ashlesha Kaushik as Iowa’s 2019 Childhood Immunization Champion for her contributions toward improving public health. Kaushik, a pediatric infectious disease physician with UnityPoint Clinic in Sergeant Bluff, is a highly respected leader on immunization issues. She is involved in managing infections and promoting immunization in underserved rural and urban children in northwest Iowa has been a flag bearer for prevention of infectious diseases in children. In Iowa, 71% of 2-year-olds have received the recommended vaccines. A doctor’s recommendation remains the top reason that parents make sure their children receive all the recommended vaccines.
