Cedar Rapids looks to turn industrial area lake into rec area
Cedar Rapids Gazette: Cedar Rapids officials are launching a study of Cedar Lake north of downtown to check for environmental problems before the city decides whether to turn the waterway in an industrial area into a recreational area. The city got a federal brownfield grant to help with the work. The tests will include soil boring. The city may take ownership of the 115-acre lake, which Alliant Energy used as a source of cooling water for a power plant.
