Iowa Relief relinquished its license weeks after having ceased operations at its plant, state officials confirmed Monday. The company, owned by New Jersey-based Acreage Holdings, produced medical marijuana capsules, topical ointments and tinctures for Iowa’s medical cannabidiol program for less than a year. State officials still are determining when applications for a new medical marijuana manufacturer will open. Lucas Nelson, general manager of medical marijuana manufacturer MedPharm in Des Moines, said Iowa Relief’s departure is a “big blow” to the state’s program, which already has faced a number of challenges.
