Cedar Rapids officials to meet with Trump
Cedar Rapids Mayor Brad Hart will meet next week with President Donald Trump to discuss infrastructure needs during a trip to Washington, D.C., the Corridor Business Journal reported. The city announced today that Hart and City Manager Jeff Pomeranz will join a small group of mayors and other officials on Monday during a visit to the White House. Officials did not release an official agenda for the meeting, but flood protection is likely to be a topic of discussion. The city of Cedar Rapids has estimated the cost of building a full flood control system capable of protecting both sides of the river at $750 million, but the project needs at least $78 million in funding from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
