According to a news release, crews will begin removing the exterior Wells Fargo signage on Monday, June 9.
The name change was announced last fall. The Ankeny-based Casey’s General Stores was awarded naming rights for the 17,000-seat arena following about eight months of talks with Polk County and Oak View Group, operators of the Iowa Events Center, which includes the arena.
The move brings to an end a 20-year agreement with Wells Fargo. That agreement expires on June 30.
Sign removal and prep work at each signage location is expected to take about two weeks, followed by the installation of the new Casey’s Center signage across the arena’s exterior.
Casey’s is paying $18.3 million for naming rights to the arena.
With the change will come a new Casey’s grab-and-go store across the stairs from the south entrance to the arena, new food offerings including Casey’s pizza and Casey’s branded snacks, and improved concourse wayfinding signage and new exterior digital signage.
“This is more than a name change — it’s an opportunity to enhance the fan experience and celebrate a partnership rooted in Iowa pride,” Chris Connolly, general manager of the Iowa Events Center, said in a release.
