Parents will have a new resource for child safety equipment and information at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines. On Oct. 29, the Hannah Geneser Learning Center and Safety Store will open at Blank Children’s Hospital. The 500-square-foot store will sell new, name-brand, low-cost safety products and provide instruction on their proper use, with a goal of having visitors leave safer than when they arrived. The project was made possible by funding from the Hannah Geneser Foundation, a nonprofit organization established to honor 4-year-old Hannah Geneser, who died in an accident in March 2011. Some of the products available for purchase are car seats, bike helmets, life jackets, childproofing products and window safety devices.
