Chinese buyers halt soybean purchases through uncertainty

Three million tons of soybeans, worth an estimated $1.3 billion, have yet to leave U.S. ports despite being signed in deals made previous to actions announced by China. China has threatened increased tariffs on American goods, including soybeans, following tariff proposals by President Donald Trump designed to support U.S. products. Iowa leads the U.S. in soybean production, and some officials and farming industry leaders have expressed concerns about trade.
