Chinese soy buyers leave U.S. exporters show empty-handed
An annual U.S. soy exporterers’ conference wrapped up on Wednesday without any known sales to Chinese buyers, a sharp contrast to years before when Chinese consumers had purchased billions of dollars, reports Reuters. The U.S.-China trade dispute has effectively halted soybean trade, in which Iowa farmers are major players. U.S. soybean prices tumbled about 18 percent over three months as the threat of tariffs pushed Chinese buyers to look south toward Brazil.
