Central Iowa Power Cooperative has decided to develop Heartland Divide Wind Farm, its biggest wind farm to date, by the end of the year. The co-op will buy the 104 megawatts from NextEra Energy Resources. The wind farm will be online early next year. More than 60 percent of CIPCO’s portfolio is free of carbon emissions. CIPCO is co-owner of the Duane Arnold nuclear plant at Palo with NextEra. CIPCO includes 13 electrical co-ops in 58 counties.
