The Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) at Iowa State University plans to launch its latest needs survey of manufacturers in June. The questions, asked every two years, take stock of the condition of the industry, key struggles, and successes. Panel discussions accompany the survey to assess what manufacturers need. The survey will be sent directly to key leaders. Results should be released early next year. The most recent survey, in 2017-18, found that 225 manufacturing leaders considered workforce availability and costs among the major issues.
