City Sounds: The Des Moines Public Piano Project’s season opener celebration will be held May 16 at five of the eight public pianos installed in downtown Des Moines. The public is invited to these free concerts. The first on Saturday starts at 5 p.m. at East Fifth Street and Grand Avenue in the East Village. Attendees are encouraged to bring their bikes and travel from one location to another to experience as many concerts as possible. Stops on Saturday include the Principal Riverwalk at the Hub Spot, Wellmark YMCA, Des Moines Central Library and Ted’s Coney Island on Ingersoll Avenue. Find more information on the event online.
