The Clive City Council last week approved a five-year capital improvements plan that includes spending on public safety facilities and a substantial increase in investment in park development associated with the recently adopted Greenbelt Master Plan, including park investments in both newly developed areas of the community and existing areas. The plan includes a number of investments in roadways that will be funded through the 5 percent franchise fee on electric and gas utilities. Specific road rehabilitation projects include reconstruction of Meredith Drive between 156th Street and Alice’s Road to four lanes, a joint project with the city of Urbandale, and rehabilitation projects in the neighborhood serviced by 101st, 102nd and 103rd streets in 2017. The plan is available on the city’s website by clicking on “Capital Improvement Program” under “Current Issues.”
