CN Railway to invest $35 million in Iowa infrastructure

Railway company CN has announced it will invest about $35 million to improve its infrastructure in Iowa to handle growing demand and support supply chains. According to a news release, the company will focus on replacement of ties, maintenance of bridges, level crossings, culverts and signal systems, as well as other track improvements. “We take our essential role in the North American economy seriously and these investments in Iowa are a key part of our strategy to support growth,” said Derek Taylor, CN’s vice president for the eastern region, in the release. CN, formerly known as Canadian National Railway Co., operates 574 miles of railroad in Iowa. Through its subsidiary, the Chicago, Central & Pacific Railroad, CN’s tracks run statewide and carry products such as food, machinery, electrical equipment and chemical products.
