The group is made up of representatives from the public and private sectors. Polk County and the cities of Altoona, Ankeny, Bondurant, Carlisle, Clive, Des Moines, Grimes, Johnston, Norwalk, Osceola, Pleasant Hill, Polk City, Urbandale, Van Meter, Waukee, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights are participating. The plan is to produce a model for cities to consider when they adopt local codes. “This project does not propose to make recommendations on permit process, code administration, appeals processes, or specific local amendments deemed necessary by local code officials,” according to Sanders report. Additional information, including agendas and meeting minutes from the consortium’s executive committee and subcommittees that focus on specific areas of construction and maintenance, is available on the consortium’s website.
