Cognizant’s revenue up 9 percent

Cognizant, a New Jersey-based Fortune 500 company that’s been rapidly building its Des Moines presence, reported net income of $495 million, or 84 cents per share, compared with $444 million, or 73 cents, for the third quarter of 2016. Revenue rose to $3.77 billion, up 9.1 percent from the year-ago quarter. “We are making consistent progress in executing the plan to accelerate our shift to digital services and solutions,” CEO Francisco D’Souza said in a release. “We’ve systematically built the significant capabilities needed to help our clients transform their business, operating, and technology models — a transformation we call digital at scale.” In April, the company signed a lease agreement (Insider content) for an additional 18,000 square feet at 2 Ruan Center in downtown Des Moines, as it moved toward an Iowa workforce of about 1,500 in the next five years.
