The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines has granted $600,000 in Leadership Grants to four area nonprofits, the foundation announced. 

Funded through the Better Together Fund, this round of Leadership Grants represents the largest cumulative amount of support provided by the initiative, the Community Foundation reported. 

Grants announced this week go to the Blank Park Zoo Foundation ($25,000), to support the construction of the ZooPlex Multipurpose Event Center; Easterseals Iowa ($75,000), to support the building of a new Child Development Center at Easterseals’ Camp Sunnyside; Great Outdoors Foundation ($250,000), to support the Central Iowa Water Trails project; and Orchard Place ($250,000), to support the development of a children’s crisis mobile team and crisis hotline for Polk County, called Reach Out Youth: Mental Health Crisis Solutions for Kids.
