Community Foundation awards three major grants

123 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, EducationThe Community Foundation has awarded Leadership Grants to the Des Moines school district, the Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families and House of Mercy. Des Moines Public Schools will use its $100,000 grant to help with efforts to create an online high school called Virtual Campus. The goal is to improve access to courses to help ensure graduation for individuals with multiple barriers. The Davis Center’s $250,000 grant will help expand services for a larger number of clients. House of Mercy’s $100,000 grant will support a reworking of a wing at House of Mercy to provide mental health services. The project will increase the number of health care professionals to 20 from 13. Here’s a video with more details on the recipients.
