Community Foundation gives $250,000 to local nonprofits

136 wordsAll Latest News, Nonprofits and PhilanthropyThe Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines has awarded $250,000 in Leadership Grants to support projects at Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity and Primary Health Care. Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity will use a $100,000 grant to acquire 55 plots of land over the next three years that will ultimately serve 915 households. Primary Health Care will use a $150,000 grant to add 16 additional exam rooms at the University Medical Clinic at 1200 University Ave. in Des Moines. Leadership Grants are made possible by the Better Together fund, which will be the focus of a two-part virtual discussion series hosted by the Community Foundation on Thursday, Jan. 25, and Friday, Jan. 26, both from noon to 12:45 p.m. Habitat for Humanity will speak about their project on Thursday and Primary Health Care will be featured on Friday.
