The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines awarded leadership grants totaling $300,000 to support three community projects. A $100,000 leadership grant will help fund the creation of the Ballet Des Moines Campus for Arts and Education in downtown Des Moines. The campus will establish a new permanent home for arts and education programming, performances and provide a shared resource for organizations from across the region, including Ballet Des Moines. Oakridge Neighborhood Services will receive one of the $100,000 grants to support a new Teen Tech Center that is intended to provide students with increased access to technology, including applications of science, engineering, math and creative exploration through innovative technology. Another $100,000 grant will contribute to the creation of the YSS Ember Recovery Campus, which will be Iowa’s first trauma-informed, nature-based behavioral health campus and is intended to support youths through addiction recovery. The facility will include retreat-style cabins with 70 beds, wellness and recreation areas, as well as nature trails and therapy spaces.
