The Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute’s 2019 Community Leadership Program class will showcase five projects they completed over the nine-month course during the Activate event on May 14. Each project challenged the class to put the curriculum into practice by working with local nonprofit partners to respond to real-world challenges. Project partners included Community Youth Concepts, Eat Greater Des Moines, Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, NAMI Greater Des Moines and YMCA Supportive Housing Campus. Institute alumni, community leaders, project stakeholders and interested community members are invited to experience one-on-one discussions and team presentations. The event is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. Admission is free but registrations are encouraged at www.gdmli.com.
