Community newspapers sold to Gannett
Wisconsin-based Journal Community Publishing Group Inc. is selling community newspapers in Ohio, Vermont and Connecticut to Gannett Company, Inc. and Hersam Acorn Community Publishing LLC. The Associated Press reports that the sale was prompted by the company’s decision to focus more on its Wisconsin and Florida markets. Gannett is buying the Central Ohio Advertiser Network which includes several specialty publications and a printing press, Advantage Press.
Hersam Acorn is buying the 11 newspapers, two printing plants and five shopping advertisers that make up the Journal’s publishing group’s Vermont and Connecticut holdings. The company is raising about $30 million through the sale.
