Polk County Supervisor Angela Connolly was presented with the Primary Leaders in Health Award during an inaugural fundraising event for Primary Health Care held Tuesday at the Embassy Club. The event highlighted the work of Primary Health Care and community leaders who have worked to reduce HIV and homelessness in central Iowa. “I am honored to receive this award and grateful for other leaders in the community who have shared a vision for helping the homeless and turned that vision into a plan,” Connolly said. Also honored were David Hurd, who was presented the Dr. Bery Engbretsen Health Care Humanitarian Award, and Nationwide Insurance, which received the Primary Partner Award. The fundraiser brought in more than $70,000, which will support the services of central Iowa’s largest community health center.
