Master Builders of Iowa took account of the state’s construction industry during its winter meeting, resulting in awards for safe projects and quality construction. Weitz Co. received the Worksafe Project of the Year for its work on the IMT corporate office project in West Des Moines. The award recognizes a contract in an enrolled Worksafe project for promoting, training and recognizing best safety practices on a site through the duration of the project. Masters Awards went to Ball Team LLC in the $1 million to $10 million project range for its work on Des Moines Community Playhouse Act II; City Construction for $10 million to $25 million projects for its work on the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics Pediatric Specialty Clinic expansion and conference center in Iowa City; and Ryan Cos. US Inc. for projects valued at more than $25 million for its work on the Krause Gateway Center in Des Moines. Master Builders Safety Awards winners were Ryan Cos. in the general contractor category and Tri-City Electric Co. in the specialty contractor category. Michael Doucette of Russell Construction Co.
