Cooksey named Des Moines city engineer

Pam Cooksey has been named city engineer for the city of Des Moines. She joined the city in 2003 as a deputy city engineer managing the department’s design and construction division. She has served as interim city engineer. Cooksey has been involved with the Southeast Connector project, the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grant award and countless other key projects, according to a release. She has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Iowa and has done graduate work in geotechnical engineering. Prior to joining the city, Cooksey worked for the Federal Highway Administration for 15 years. Cooksey replaces Jeb Brewer, who retired for medical reasons.
