Hyatt Hotels Corp. has recognized the local owners of the renovated Liberty Building at 418 Sixth Ave. with its “Best Hyatt Place opening in North America” honor. Now called Hyatt Place Hotel, the building was renovated by Nelson Development and Construction Services into a 90-room hotel and mixed-use building that also offers condominiums, and office and retail space. Local owners are BJ Baker, Mike Nelson, Dick Ten Braak and Jake Christiansen. Hyatt also will present a check to the Boys & Girls Club of Central Iowa in the Des Moines hotel’s honor during a ceremony Friday.
