Ted Corrigan, pictured, was named the new CEO and general manager of Des Moines Water Works by the utility’s board of trustees Monday. “Ted has proven himself to be a team-builder, a strategic leader, a strong communicator, and an environmentally focused problem-solver,” Joel Aschbrenner, board trustee, said in a release. “Des Moines Water Works faces a number of challenges and opportunities in the years ahead, from water quality to regional cooperation, and in Ted’s capable hands I am confident the utility will rise to the occasion.” Corrigan has been with the Des Moines Water Works since 1990, most recently as chief operating officer. He has served as interim CEO and general manager since Bill Stowe died in April 2019. “It is a tremendous honor to be selected as CEO and general manager of Des Moines Water, a great organization with exceptional employees providing an essential service to 500,000 customers in Central Iowa,” Corrigan said in the release. Corrigan was selected from a field of 122 applicants for the position. He was one of two finalists who participated in a final interview, and interviews with staff, union leadership and community members. INSIDER: Corrigan was featured on the Business Record’s November Power Breakfast panel where leaders discussed water, recreation and economic development.
