Corridor Business Journal: Some key pieces of Cedar Rapids’ $750 million flood protection system have already been built, while others will take 10-15 years to complete, City Council Member Tyler Olson told “Iowa Press” over the weekend. The project got a huge boost last week with the U.S. Army Corps announcement that it would forward $117 million to the city for structures along the east side of the Cedar River. The state has kicked in $267 million for the project and the city has invested $10 million of its $110 million commitment, reports the Gazette.
