Ryan Crane, director of charitable giving at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, announced plans to run for the at-large City Council seat being vacated by current Councilman Jim Sandager. Also running for the seat is attorney Matt McKinney. Crane, in a news release, said his priorities include improving the quality of the city’s drinking water, continuing the expansion of the city’s outdoor amenities, and working on sustainable development opportunities. Crane, who was included in the Business Record’s Forty under 40 in 2017, completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Northern Iowa.
