D.M. Civil and Human Rights Commission seeks youth nominees for policy committee

The Des Moines Civil and Human Rights Commission is seeking nominations from the community for a youth leader to join the city’s recently created Community Policing and Code Enforcement Policy and Practice Review Committee. Nominations for Des Moines youths ages 16-24 must be submitted online by Aug. 20. The PPRC will consist of two members of the Des Moines Civil and Human Rights Commission, one member from the housing appeals board, one staff member from the Community Development department, one police officer, three Des Moines residents appointment by the mayor and at-large City Council members, and one youth member recommended by the Civil and Human Rights Commission.
