96 wordsAll Latest News, Education, EnergyThe U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy have given Des Moines Public Schools the Energy Star Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence for Energy Management award for its comprehensive energy management. Des Moines was among 163 schools, companies, retailers, hospitals, commercial buildings and manufacturers in 35 states that got the recognition. Among other achievements, Des Moines schools spent an average of $114 per student on energy, well under the national average of $205. Principal Real Estate Investors LLC was recognized in the same category after reducing energy consumption by 6.1 percent.
