DART offering free rides to cooling centers
The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority will be giving free rides to anyone wanting to go to cooling centers in Polk County today and Saturday. Temperatures during the period are expected to reach the mid-90s with the heat index reaching over 100 both days. Riders should tell bus drivers when they board a bus that they want to go to a cooling center. Riders can consult schedules at ridedart.com or through the MyDART App. They can also call DART customer service at 515-283-8100.
