According to a news release, eligible individuals will be able to apply for a Half Fare ID card, allowing them to buy individual tokens and daily, weekly and monthly passes for half price. “By expanding the reach of our Half-Fare Program, we hope to remove transportation barriers for even more central Iowans, giving them access to work, shopping, medical appointments, school and more,” DART CEO Elizabeth Presutti said in the release. “In times of economic uncertainty, access to our region remains critical.” People who are receiving food assistance, participating in workforce training programs and applying for unemployment are eligible to apply for the expanded Half Fare Pilot Program. Those who are currently eligible will continue to receive benefits during and after the six-month pilot program. More information on the program and how to apply can be found on the DART website.
