Rachelle Scott Oakley has joined the Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families as the site coordinator for the Polk County Financial Empowerment Center. The center, which was launched in March 2020 at the DMACC Urban Campus, is a partnership among Des Moines Area Community College, Polk County, the Cities for Financial Empowerment (CFE Fund) and United Way of Central Iowa. Its mission is to provide one-on-one financial counseling to Polk County residents as a free public service. Last week, the center announced it has expanded its services to provide financial counseling to small business owners, with a pilot program called Small Business Boost. Before joining the Evelyn K. Davis Center, Scott Oakley worked in numerous roles at Iowa Workforce Development, most recently as an operations manager within IowaWORKS. She managed teams within the Disabled Veterans Opportunity Program, Home Base Iowa, and the Work Opportunity Tax Program. “Rachelle is dedicated to living her values and executing her vision to create valuable opportunities for underrepresented individuals and communities,” said Ahmed Agyeman, director of the Davis Center.
