Deadlines nearing for DCA grant applications

The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs is reminding Iowans that applications for its art project, artist fellowship, historic preservation and author research grant programs are due within the next several weeks.

 

The grants are overseen by the State Historical Society of Iowa and the Iowa Arts Council.

 

Available grants include:

 

1. Research Grants for Authors

Deadline to apply: April 15

This State Historical Society of Iowa grant awards up to 10 research stipends of $1,000 to support original research and interpretive writing related to the history of Iowa or Iowa and the Midwest. Find out more 

 

2. Historical Resource Development Program

Deadline to apply: April 30

The Historical Resource Development Program provides grants to preserve, conserve, interpret and educate the public about historical resources in three categories – documentary collections, historic preservation and museums – related to historic preservation. Find out more 

 

3. Art Project Grant

Deadline to apply: May 1

The IAC’s Art Project Grant program offers grants from $1,000 to $10,000 to individual artists, nonprofit organizations, schools, tribal councils and local, county, state and federal government agencies. Find out more 

 

4. Artist Fellowship Program

Deadline to apply: May 1

The IAC’s Artist Fellowship Program was created in 2014 to recognize the impact individual artists have on the vitality of the arts in Iowa. Find out more 

 

5. Big Yellow School Bus Grant

Applications open: May 1

The BYSB program provides $500 to Iowa schools and preschools to underwrite the cost of transportation for field trips to attend an arts event or to underwrite the cost of artist fees to bring a professional artist or artist group into the classroom or school to lead an in-depth arts learning experience or artistic performance. Find out more
