Deere & Co. seeks $2.8 million in state development incentives and $4 million in local property tax rebates to build a $23 million home for its Intelligent Solutions Group in Urbandale. Deere currently leases space in Urbandale for the division, which develops a range of high-tech products for agriculture, including management tools, logistics systems and special hardware used in GPS-driven tractors. According to documents filed with the Iowa Economic Development Authority, the project will cost $32.6 million and result in the creation of 31 jobs and retention of another 20 at an hourly wage of $29.12. The IEDA board approved $2 million in investment tax credits and $807,000 is sales tax refunds under the state High Quality Jobs program. The Moline, Ill.-based ag giant also seeks $4.1 million in property tax rebates over 10 years from the city of Urbandale.
