Deere to lay off 300 in Ankeny

Deere & Co.  today announced 300 layoffs at its Ankeny plant, and 565 in Waterloo. In all, 910 Deere employees in Iowa and Illinois will lose their jobs indefinitely. In addition, approximately 500 employees at Deere’s Seeding and Cylinder facility in Moline, Ill., will go on an extended inventory adjustment shutdown. The layoffs will be in February and March. On the plus side, Deere added 100 jobs each at its Dubuque and Davenport plants, in construction and forestry. Read more
