Demand for design services grows slightly

Architecture firms reported a slight increase in demand for design services in February, according to an architecture billing index released today by the American Institute of Architects. The index score for February was 51.3, up from January’s score of 51. (Any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings from the prior month.) During February, scoring for new project inquiries increased to 62.5 from January’s 61.9. Design contracts decreased to 55.2 from 56.1 The Midwest’s regional average was 53.2.
