Des Moines International Airport served a record 3,097,006 passengers in 2023, the highest number of passengers in a single year, according to airport officials. In December, the airport served 252,219 people, marking an 11.7% increase over December 2022. In a news release, the achievement was credited to collaborations with airline partners, expanded travel destinations and infrastructure improvements. “This milestone is a testament to the collective efforts of our dedicated team, the enduring support of our community, and the appetite for air travel in our market,” Des Moines Airport Authority Executive Director Kevin Foley said in a prepared statement. “We remain committed to elevating the travel experience with the terminal expansion and contributing to the growth and prosperity of our region.”
