Des Moines, Ames craft trainees in national competition
Two craft trainees from Des Moines and one from Ames will be among eight Iowans competing in a field of 200 at the National Craft Championships in Long Beach, Calif., March 18-20. The event hosted by Associated Builders and Contractors gives competitors a chance to show off their skills, training and safe work practices. Five of the Iowans qualified through the state event and three are sponsored by Interstates Cos. in Sioux Center, an ABC of Iowa member. The competition in 12 crafts involved a written exam and a six-hour project. Competing from Iowa will be Nicolas Jones from Action Electric in Des Moines, Miguel Rios from Kline Electric in Des Moines, Eli Hoyt from ACI Mechanical Inc. in Ames, Michael Jensen from Camblin Mechanical Inc. in Atlantic, John Primakov from Primo Heating & Cooling in Indianola, Elijah Allison from Interstates Cos. in Sioux Center, Preston Raigorza from Interstates Cos. in Sioux Center, and Jenny Gilliland from Interstates Cos. in Sioux Center.
