The Des Moines Arts Festival will showcase an exhibition by internationally acclaimed photographer Alan Jacobs on June 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will take place in Suite 431 of Mainframe Studios, located at 900 Keosauqua Way, in conjunction with Mainframe’s First Friday event. The exhibition, titled “Learning to See the Art of the Streets,” showcases Jacobs’ personal journey as a street photographer. Jacobs, known for his captivating work featured in publications and galleries, started as a landscape photographer but transitioned to street photography to learn from the original masters of the art form. Over the years, he has gained a significant following through his popular “Thursday Night Photo” series on social media. Jacobs also collaborates with the Des Moines Arts Festival and its related events. Guests attending the exhibition will have the opportunity to meet Jacobs in person and provide their interpretation and emotions evoked by his images. This exhibition marks Jacobs’ first collaboration with the Des Moines Arts Festival. The event is free and open to the public.
