The city of Des Moines is heading into budget planning for the fiscal year that begins July 1 with a series of six workshops that will focus on various categories of spending — public safety, for example — and are open for public input. A free round of golf is being offered to an attendee at each of the first five workshops. A city paperweight will be handed out to one lucky person attending the final workshop.
