Des Moines Global Shapers, a young professionals initiative from the World Economic Forum, is partnering with American Friends Service Committee to launch +Together Des Moines, a fundraiser at five area restaurants to raise money for the Iowa Immigrants Rights Program. On July 20, Des Moines residents are invited to eat at Panka, El Buen Sabor Latino, Harbinger, Ceviche and Ritual Cafe, which will all be donating a portion of their sales to directly benefit the Iowa Immigrants Rights Program. The nonprofit extends services to immigrants in Iowa to provide a sense of community, offer legal services and organize for comprehensive immigration reform. The Global Shapers Community is a network of more than 8,000 young professionals ages 20-30 in 157 countries; the Des Moines Hub supports young professionals interested in the region’s most pressing issues, including the rural-urban divide, social justice and climate change, the Des Moines Global Shapers said in a statement.
