Des Moines Register: The federal government may have taken a hiatus during the Trump administration from the global effort to fight climate change, but Mayor Frank Cownie says Des Moines and hundreds of other U.S. cities didn’t. “We’re still in. We’re still working on it, despite what might have been said over the past few years,” Cownie said before traveling to Glasgow, Scotland, to join the United Nations Climate Change Conference, called COP26, that began Sunday. Cownie, president of Local Governments for Sustainability, will represent the group, which has members from 2,500 local and regional governments. The group is paying for the trip.
